How to Build a 10 Point Scroll

Note: The class of Scroll Mage has no set group of spells. They are entrusted to be creative and completely make their own. This makes it difficult for both players and DMs to add into their campaign as both of them have to understand the concepts going into the scrolls and decide the outcome. Only continue if you're willing to be creative

10 point scroll foundation

  1. Represents the Main Attitude of the spell. (called the Focus). You can have any one of 5 types here
    1. Execute - General spell format. Most basic spells will have this as their Focus
    2. Summon - Brings forth whatever you're calling. An example is to bring rain into a desert area.
    3. Banish - A more complex focus that's purpose is to send something elsewhere or away
    4. Delay - A tricky focus that needs two extra features: Two more symbols bearing the number and a time quantity (either seconds or minutes).
    5. Element - An elemental focus is generally only used when you are manipulating an element that is present. It is also the trickiest focus as it will generally make the spell unstable and in order to execute the spell properly, a successful save vs. spell is needed.

  2. Elemental Symbols - Every spell has some sort of element to it, depending on what you are attempting to do. Whether it is creating a house out of stone (earth) or charming a person to your will (spirit), an element or elements are needed.

  3. Same as 2. If the spell requires only one element, then the same symbol is placed here. (When more than two elements are needed, you require a higher point scroll).

  4. -7. The next four represent different words that associate with your spells. For instance, if you were to create a Levitation spell, you would want the words: Hold, Gentle, Firm, and Light (or Heavy depending on the object of the spell).

  1. -9. The next two represent the direction of the spell. If you were creating a wall of earth, you would need to specify where, in relation to you, that it's being cast. You can create it directly in front of you with the symbols "North" and "Close" or 20ft behind you with "South" and "Far". (Note: in relation to the direction of the scrolls, the way you are facing is always considered "North")

  1. This is the final and one of the most important parts of the scroll (second only to the Focus). This is the type cast. Notice it must be on BOTH sides of the scroll for the scroll to be active. If one differs from the other, it will not work (or depending, have disastrous effects). There are only two Symbols that can go here: Field and Combat. Field Scrolls usually take more time to execute than Battle scrolls, but work with different aspects.

Levitaton Scroll

This is an example of a 10-pt scroll. This scroll is a Field Scroll, used for Levitation, in front of the caster and has mid range distance (~10 ft).
